Hello all,

As this blog clearly shows, things have been a bit quiet here at TSW. Not the company in general, I have been as busy as usual, but for several months after the release of WebCoder 2009, I was occupied by other projects than the software. Finishing up WebCoder 2009 and releasing it took a lot of effort, and I really needed some time away from it afterwards. During that time, I thought a lot about the future of both WebCoder and phpCoder though, and wrote down every idea I got.

By now, I have a huge list of small and big ideas that I want to do for the next version, but the really big question is: What will the next version be? phpCoder 2010? WebCoder 2010? CombinedCoder 2010? I have thought a lot about this, after receiving much feedback from you, dear users, but now I think it's time that we take a discussion together, all of us. To separate it from previous discussions, I have created a brand new forum for this single purpose, with the mysterious name xCoder 2010.

What I really want is all of your opinions on where we should take these pieces of software and how we will make them even better. I would like to know which version you currently use, which version you prefer, what your favorite features are, and what you currently long for. In other words: Throw in all your thoughts and ideas, as structured as possible, and I will try to combine them and integrate it all into my current TODO list. I want everything, from minor annoyances to big feature requests. Obviously, I can't fulfill all of your wishes, but this is your best bet to influence the next version, so start posting! I will take part in the discussions, but I may hold back in the beginning, to make sure that as many people as possible have a chance to be heard, before I meddle :). I'm looking forward to hearing all of your opinions, so be sure to post in the xCoder 2010 forum now! Thank you :)

I want to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. 2008 has been a great year for TSW, being able to release both TSW phpCoder 2008, a new version of TSW SiteSync and release a beta version of the next version of TSW WebCoder. As always, I have a very good feeling about this new piece of software, and I'm already thrilled to receive all your beta feedback. I wish for an especially merry Christmas to all the beta testers :).

Ever since the first release of WebPad, and especially after the release of phpCoder, people have been asking what the difference between these applications and WebCoder are. I've had the explanation ready each time, but some people seem to prefer a nice chart with X's on it - at least that's the impression I've gotten after receiving several requests for it. So, without further ado, here it is:

I just made it last night, so it might not be completely done by now, but I wanted to see if you guys had any feedback on it. So far, I've mostly listed things that are left out in at least one application, or where there's more than a slight difference between how good it works in the different applications. For instance, I haven't included Extended search & replace, because it works equally well in all three current applications. This should make it easier to get a good overview of the applications. So, what do you think? Is this what you guys want? Have I missed something obvious? :)

I just want to let you all know what's currently going on here at TSW. After a long period where phpCoder was the absolute main focus, it's good to finally have it out. I used last week to get out the first maintenance release, and I'm currently writing down things to fix/change for version 1.02 :). This week I've started something that I've been looking forward to for quite a while now: A new version of TSW SiteSync. I already had a list of at least 20 things I wanted to do with it, both small and big things, with several of the suggestions coming from various users of SiteSync. The biggest change will be more responsiveness. People have been complaining that it locks up too much when working, and I'm dedicated to making this a much more smooth experience. As I work on this, I keep finding small things that I wish to change, so my TODO list has already grown quite a bit. Despite that, I hope to have a beta version out within the next couple of months. There will be lots of changes, so I will once again need the help of some talented betatesters. More about that once I have an actual beta version ready :)

While big parts of this new version will be re-written from scratch, I'm still not sure whether it should be a major release, or just SiteSync 1.10 or something like that. I do have one thing decided already though: This will be a free upgrade for existing SiteSync customers, no matter if it was purchased along with WebCoder/phpCoder or as a stand alone purchase.

I will try to post more information about this new version of SiteSync soon - stay tuned :)

It's final beta 5 time! The final version of phpCoder is now only a couple of weeks away, so it's definitely time to get rid of those last bugs. As mentioned, I will be giving away free commercial licenses to the 5 most active betatesters at the end of the test, so get busy :)

In this version, a feature for sharing Scripts have been added. Be sure to share your home made scripts, so we can all benefit from them. The feature can be found in the Scripting menu. Let me know what you think :)

In this version, a feature for sharing CodeSnippets have been introduced. Hopefully, this will be extended in the future, to allow for sharing scripts and perhaps other things as well. Be sure to share your favorite CodeSnippets so we can all benefit from them. The feature can be found in the CodeSnippets dialog. Let me know what you think :)

The amount of bugs for final beta 2 has been rather limited, so to make sure that you have an even more stable version of phpCoder to work with, I have now released final beta 3. Now it's time to find those last bugs, so we can get the final version out really soon. I'm happy to announce the release of the first final beta version of TSW phpCoder 2008. This is also the first beta release where the almost-finished documentation has been included, so go check that out as well. I have just released beta version 4 of TSW phpCoder 2008. The number of bug reports is declining, and hopefully we will soon be able to move on to final beta. For now, just go find some bugs - you guys are doing a great job! As already mentioned, I will be giving away free commercial licenses to the 5 most active betatesters :)
